A High Note of a Great Banking Partnership
04/05/2023

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country, all business industries were dealt a significant blow to operations. However, some businesses were more impacted due to the nature of their business. Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO) was one of those needing financial assistance during this unfortunate time.
DMMO turned to TruBank, its long-time bank, to help them be one of the first organizations in their industry to secure funding from the Federal Payroll Protection Program (PPP). With PPP funding, DMMO was able to make a confident commitment to its artists and production staff that their contracts would be paid-in-full in 2020 and allowed DMMO to focus on delivering a high-quality virtual season for their patrons across the country.
DMMO’s story has always been an unlikely one – a summer opera festival thriving in America’s heartland for over half a century. “As we dream about the future, we do so from a position of strength,” says Tim McMillin, DMMO’s Director of Advancement. “This would not be possible without the dedication of business and community partners like TruBank.”
TruBank recently helped DMMO again by being the presenting sponsor of its Wine, Food & Beer Showcase. The event was a record-breaking evening with over 590 tickets sold as people sampled food and beverages from over 30 different local vendors. Funds raised from ticket sales, silent auction program, and event sponsorships will be used for arts education programming for Iowa students and families.
“We are proud to sponsor this event as both TruBank and DMMO share similar missions – to provide quality customer service and contribute to a thriving community,” reveals Ben Currie, TruBank’s Chief Financial Officer.
This is only one of many TruBank customer stories from its rich 140-year history and more stories to be made in the next 140 years.
