Keith Welling Honored by Iowa Bankers Association for 50 Years of Service

TruBank’s CEO, Keith Welling, was recently honored by the Iowa Bankers Association for more than 50 years of actively engaging in the banking industry. The award was presented to him during the IBA Annual Convention on Monday, September 16th, in Des Moines. Welling was one of 19 individuals recognized for reaching the 50-year service milestone.

“Each year, it’s amazing to hear these bankers’ stories of dedication to their communities and the many relationships they formed throughout their 50-plus years of service. We’re honored to be able to celebrate the exemplary commitment and experience of Keith,” said IBA President and CEO John Sorensen. “This event allows us the opportunity to recognize these legendary bankers among their family and friends, and in an environment that highlights their accomplishments and dedication for our next generation of bankers.”

As a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking in Colorado, Keith Welling has always been ambitious in the banking industry. When the smallest bank in Iowa came up for sale in 1992, Keith and some investors saw an opportunity. He has since worked tirelessly to grow that modest bank into what it is now—TruBank with eight locations and a newly built beautiful location in the heart of his hometown. He is excited about the future of TruBank, prioritizing providing customers with great service and product offerings. Still, he is mostly proud of the deeply rooted relationships that the banking industry and TruBank customer base has offered him.

Welling is not just a supporter of local businesses, organizations and philanthropic efforts, he is a leader in his community. His belief in these entities has led him to invest his time, talent and resources to make a difference in the communities he calls home. He has served on numerous local boards, clubs and task forces, and in recent years, he has dedicated most of his time to organizations like the ZaGaZig Shrine and the local Elks Club, where he was recently honored as Elk of the Year. Professionally, Welling is a member of the Iowa Advisory Board for Midwest Independent Bankers, and board member for SHAZAM and Iowa Bankers Mortgage Corporation.

Welling resides in Indianola, Iowa with his wife of 48 years, Debra. His two adult children live in the same community, and his son, Clint, works alongside him as president of TruBank. He enjoys spending time with his four grandchildren—Owen, Mia, Samuel, and Gwen. He misses very few games, matches and performances—always prioritizing time to do things they enjoy.
